Each individual banknote has its own dedicated page containing the following information:

Geographical Section

  • Region
  • Sub-region
  • Country
  • Country ISO Code

Issuing Authority Section

  • Issuing Authority
  • Established In
  • Currency and Currency ISO Code
  • Link to Wikipedia page

Banknote Section

  • Denomination
  • First issued year
  • Series Theme
  • Type of Note
  • Orientation – Front & Back
  • Size of the note – Height & Width
  • Security Fibres
  • Number of Windows

Banknote Substrate Section

  • Type of substrate
  • Brand name
  • Treatment
  • Comment section for specific information

Each field in the above sections can have only one value per banknote. In contrast, the Banknote Security Features section may have multiple entries per banknote, depending on the number of features present.

Banknote Security Features

A security feature is described using up to 11 fields, which may or may not be filled depending on the specific feature:

  1. Feature Type: Applied, Print, Thread, or Watermark
  2. Type: Used only for Applied features (e.g., Stripe or Patch) and Watermarks
  3. Position: Front, Back, or Double-sided
  4. Format: Embedded, Printed, or Windowed
  5. Width: Wide or Narrow
  6. Width Dimension: Size of the feature in millimeters
  7. Registered: Whether the feature is registered or not
  8. Optical Technique Effect: Various aspects of the feature (e.g., Colour Change, UV, Diffractive, Iridescent)
  9. Brand Name: Examples include Spark, RollingStar, Kinegram
  10. Sub Brand Name: Used to differentiate variants within a brand (e.g., Spark Live, Spark Origin, Spark Live Truspin)
  11. Machine Readable: The technology used for machine readability

The table below shows the fields used by the different security features.
As you can see, a Thread can contain data in almost all fields except Type, whereas a Watermark only uses two fields (Feature Type and Type).
