Enhanced GEMINI™

Enhanced GEMINI™ is a level 2 UV fluorescent print security feature for paper and polymer banknotes, designed primarily for verification by cashiers, bank tellers, and retail staff using a standard UV lamp. Under normal reflected light the feature is integrated invisibly into the banknote's visible print design; under UV illumination a hidden image appears in two distinct fluorescent colours, intricately linked to the surrounding artwork or pattern.
The combination of one visible colour and two fluorescent colours creates a more complex authentication target than standard single-colour UV features, increasing resistance to simulation. Detailed designs are built using three distinct techniques — blocks, lines, and microtext — which can be used individually or in combination to create denomination-specific patterns with fine detail that is difficult to reproduce accurately.
The feature is applied during lithographic printing, allowing straightforward integration alongside other security features in the overall banknote design. It can be retrofitted onto existing note designs when updating a series, making it a practical and cost-effective security upgrade.
Enhanced GEMINI™ is De La Rue's most widely deployed print feature, appearing on over 150 different denominations across all value ranges worldwide.
Authentication level: Level 2 (requires standard UV lamp). Available in three variants: Enhanced GEMINI™ Blocks, Enhanced GEMINI™ Lines, and Enhanced GEMINI™ Microtext, or combinations thereof.
