SPARK® Live is an advanced generation of SICPA's SPARK® optically variable magnetic ink technology, expanding on the foundational colour-shift and rolling-bar effect of the original with enhanced design flexibility and more complex visual outputs.
SPARK® Live is an optically variable magnetic ink feature that builds on SPARK®'s core magnetic pigment orientation process while introducing new effect families and expanded colour combinations. New colour pairings such as violet to bronze were introduced with SPARK® Live, enabling closer integration with the principal colours and design identity of individual banknote series.
A significant development within the SPARK® Live family is the TruSpin variant, which generates a spinning circular motion effect rather than the linear rolling bar of the original SPARK®. SPARK® Live TruSpin incorporates a colour-changing ink with a spin circle feature — the circle spins and changes colour when the banknote is tilted. This rotational dynamic adds a distinct and highly intuitive authentication cue that is straightforward for the general public to verify while remaining extremely difficult to simulate.
SPARK® Live TruSpin has also been successfully integrated into polymer banknote windows, making it viewable on both sides of the window in both reflection and transmission — a significant technical development that extends the technology's applicability beyond paper substrates to the growing polymer banknote market.
SPARK® Live is applied by screen printing, retains the machine-readable magnetic properties of the SPARK® platform, and is available exclusively to accredited high-security printers through SICPA's controlled supply chain.
