HoloTWINS
JSC RPC KRYPTEN (Russian Federation)
1. Feature + Supplier
HoloTWINS Two-Sided Security Stripe / JSC RPC Krypten
2. Type
Two-sided holographic security stripe for window banknotes. Effect types: Demetallised, Diffractive.
3. Overview
HoloTWINS is a combined optical stripe designed for banknotes with transparent windows. It integrates two distinct behaviours in a single element: a two-sided hologram within the window that shows different images on the obverse and reverse, and demetallised imagery that is visible only on the front face of the stripe outside the window. The two-sided image-change effect is positioned as an intuitive, self-explanatory authentication cue, prompting the user to turn the note over and compare the differing images on each side.
4. Technology and Effects
The element is built on Krypten's High-Precision Micro-Demetallisation technology (HPMD), which reproduces fine detail, thin lines, complex shapes and portraits at high resolution. The two opposing images are formed by sophisticated vacuum sputtering, which Krypten states creates two different demetallised images on opposite sides of the element with 100 percent registration accuracy. Observed dynamic effects when tilting include a rainbow effect, moving gradient and colour contrast, combined with the flip-side image change through the window. Primary effect classification: Demetallised and Diffractive.
5. Form Factors and Application
Supplied as a security stripe. Targeted specifically at paper and polymer banknotes incorporating a transparent window; the two-sided hologram sits in the window while the demetallised images occupy the front of the stripe outside it.
6. Security Levels
Level 1 (overt / public). Verification requires no equipment: the image-change effect and demetallised imagery are visible and comparable by eye. Krypten emphasises intuitive, memorable authentication as the design goal.
7. Notable Deployments
Demonstrated on the "Antarctica 200" house banknote (obverse and reverse). Note for the record: this is a Krypten house/demonstration note rather than a circulating currency. The source page cites no confirmed issued-currency deployment of the HoloTWINS stripe.
8. Corporate Context
