Banknotes by Supplier A new browsing page lets you explore the banknote catalog through the lens of the supply chain. Filter and sort by role — Designers, Printers, Substrate Suppliers, and Security Feature Suppliers — to see which companies are behind each series. Whether you're tracking a printer's portfolio or a substrate supplier's reach, this view brings the production side of banknote issuance into focus.
Geography: Banknotes vs. Coins The Geography section now includes a comparison tool that lets you place countries side by side and compare their catalog depth — either by banknote count or coin count. A useful starting point for benchmarking issuance breadth across regions or spotting gaps in coverage.
Coin Detail: Minting Authority / Supplier Coin profiles now carry a dedicated Minting Authority / Supplier field, distinguishing who physically produces the coin from the authority that issues it. For most sovereign coins the two are the same, but where a central bank contracts production to a commercial mint or foreign facility, this field makes that relationship explicit. We're actively populating this data — expect coverage to grow over the coming weeks.

We've overhauled how substrates are catalogued and browsed:
- Accurate multi-brand notes. Banknotes that combine two substrate brands (for example UK polymer series carrying both Guardian and Safeguard layers) are now recorded as two distinct brands rather than a single combined label.
- Any / All toggle on filters. The Substrate Brand and Substrate Treatment filters on the banknote list now behave like the Design Change filter — pick multiple values and switch between matching any of them (union) or all of them (intersection).
- Cleaner "Browse by Substrate" page. Each row is now a specific substrate composition (type + brand(s) + treatment(s)), matching the layout of the Security Features page. Click a brand name to open the linked technology.
DV Directory — free access
A new Currency & Technology Supplier Directory is now live in DataVault, listing more than 540 organisations across the industry — from substrate, ink and feature suppliers to printers, mints, CIT operators, CashTech vendors and associations. Filter by region, country or category, with direct links to each company's website. Free to use, no subscription required.
Is your company missing or needs updating? You can now submit a new listing or request changes to an existing one directly from the directory — free of charge. All submissions are reviewed by our team before going live.
DV Cash — prototype now available
An early prototype of DV Cash is now live, tracking banknote and coin circulation trends by country. Country coverage is being expanded on an ongoing basis, with data drawn from central bank and World Bank sources covering value and volume in circulation, denomination breakdowns and key economic indicators. The prototype is free to use — if you find it useful, please let us know, as your feedback will help shape its future direction.
Banknote Supplier Roles
We are progressively enriching banknote records with supplier information, identifying the companies involved in each denomination as Designer, Printer, Substrate Supplier or Feature Supplier. Where available, each company's detail page now shows a Banknote Involvement card linking directly to the banknotes they are associated with. This is an ongoing data effort — coverage will grow steadily over the coming months.
Banknote Awards
Banknotes can now be linked to awards from industry conferences such as HSP EMEA, HSP Latin America, and HSP Asia. Awards are organised by body, category (e.g., Best New Banknote, Best New Commemorative Banknote), and year. A new By Awards page lets you browse award-winning banknotes with cascading filters and export. Award-winning banknotes are highlighted with a trophy icon in the banknote list and visual profile views, and awards are displayed on the banknote detail page.
Visual Profile Enhancements
Banknotes now include theme and colour data. The Visual Profile page displays these alongside orientation and images, with dedicated filters including Any/All matching. Colours are automatically assigned from banknote images using dominant colour analysis.
