DataVault vs Keesing vs CurrencyCheck

People often assume DataVault is "another Keesing" — it isn't. Here's how the three main banknote & coin reference tools actually compare.

CurrencyCheck

Sold through the Currency News / Cash & Payment News / Coin & Mint News subscription bundle. Built by International Reference Systems (IRS) on a Regula-maintained platform. A reference lookup guide for banknotes and coins — white/UV/IR imagery, dimensions, substrate, and import/export notes — but no search filters, export, or analytics tooling.

Keesing DocumentChecker

A Netherlands-based identity-fraud and document-authentication platform. DocumentChecker covers both ID documents and banknotes, built for KYC, border security and counterfeit detection at banks and government agencies — not for cataloguing or market research. No coin coverage, export, or supplier/cash-in-circulation data.

DataVault

A smaller catalogue today (1,332 banknotes, 1,113 coins) but the only one of the three built as a real platform: searchable filters, full data export, a supplier directory linking manufacturers to notes, a house-note database, and the Cash-in-Circulation module for trend and economic data.

CurrencyCheck and Keesing figures are sourced from each provider's public marketing materials (July 2026) and may change without notice. DataVault figures are computed live from the current catalogue on every page load, across all statuses (current, superseded, obsolete and commemorative).
