VIVID™ Family

The VIVID™ family is a range of security inks developed by CCL Secure and embedded directly into their Guardian™ polymer substrate during production — rather than applied at the banknote printing stage — which frees the offset printing stage for additional design elements and ensures deep integration into the note.
VIVID inks are embedded into spot ink and applied during the production of the substrate, and the family combines Level 1 and Level 2 security features to ensure versatility across a wide range of users and equipment in the cash cycle. The family currently comprises three members:
VIVID™ WHITE — a fluorescent ink that is invisible when applied onto the opacified substrate but appears as bright fluorescent white when a UV light source is applied to the banknote surface.
VIVID™ IR — combines multiple Level 2 authentication capabilities in a single security ink, with both IR and UV security inks embedded into a spot ink. It produces a dark visible image under an IR camera and fluoresces brightly under a UV light source.
VIVID™ COLOUR — a visually striking Level 2 security feature applied within a full window of substrate. In ambient light the image appears opaque, but under UV light a high-resolution full-colour image appears. Introduced in 2020, it is integrated into the window design during Guardian production. The complex window vignette is viewable under normal lighting conditions but becomes a bright vibrant full-colour image under UV illumination.
VIVID™ COLOUR was one of two world-first banknote features on the Banque du Liban 100,000 Livres banknote, celebrating the 100th anniversary of the Declaration of the State of Lebanon. More recently, the feature appeared on the Polish commemorative PLN 20 Guardian polymer banknote produced with PWPW, where a smaller window includes a VIVID™ COLOUR feature representing the solar system — appearing as a white photographic-style image in daylight but revealing full colour under UV light.
