About DV Cash

DV Cash (Cash in Circulation) · Last updated Jun 02, 2026

Overview

DV Cash is DataVault’s module for tracking cash in circulation — the value and volume of banknotes and coins held outside central bank vaults. Reach it from the Cash dropdown in the main navigation.

What It Covers

  • Country dashboard — Full time-series of notes and coins by value and volume, denomination trends, denomination breakdown, and economic indicators for a single country
  • Compare Countries — Index-based comparison of cash-in-circulation trends across multiple countries on a single chart
  • Series Analysis — Freely combine any mix of denomination-level data and economic indicators for a single country to explore correlations
  • Denomination breakdown — Latest-year share of each denomination in circulation, shown as doughnut charts
  • CAGR — Compound annual growth rate for any selected window
  • Economic indicators — Population, GDP, CPI and other macro context per country, sourced from the World Bank
  • Excel exports — Raw value, indexed (base = 100), and year-on-year % sheets for the country dashboard, country comparison, and series analysis (Enterprise tier)

Data Sources

Each country has a data source record that documents where the figures come from (typically the central bank’s annual report or statistical release) and the multiplier (millions or billions) used by that source. Quarterly or monthly figures are normalised to year-end values for consistency.

Access

DV Cash is available to all subscription tiers. Guest visitors can access a subset of countries. New countries are added on a rolling basis — check the Changelog for additions.
