About the Supplier Directory

What It Is

The Supplier Directory (/directory/, accessible from Directory in the main navigation) is DataVault’s catalogue of companies operating in the currency industry — designers, printworks, substrate makers, security feature suppliers, ink and machinery vendors, and more. It is the same dataset that powers Reconnaissance International’s currency supplier listings.

How It Is Organised

Companies are classified into a three-level hierarchy:

• Directory — The top-level grouping (e.g., Currency Supplier Directory)
• Main category — Broad industry segment (e.g., Printers, Substrate Suppliers, Security Features)
• Sub-category — Specific specialism (e.g., Banknote Printers — Full Colour, Polymer Substrate)

A single company can appear under multiple sub-categories.

Connections to Other Modules

Where possible, companies in the directory are linked to:

• Banknotes — Through the four supplier roles (designer, printer, substrate, feature)
• Banknote technologies — A technology can be associated with the supplier behind it
• Substrate brands and security feature brands — Brands roll up to their parent company

This means each company profile is a hub that brings together every part of the catalogue that touches that supplier.
