Colours and Themes

Banknotes Module · Last updated Apr 26, 2026

Colours

Each banknote can be tagged with one or more dominant colours from a controlled list (e.g., Blue, Green, Red, Purple). Colours appear in the basic-information block of the banknote detail page, and are exposed as a multi-select filter on the banknote list.

Themes

Themes describe the subject or motif depicted on a banknote — for example, Portrait, Landscape, Monument, Flora, Fauna or Architecture. A single note may have several themes (e.g., Portrait + Architecture).

Series Theme

In addition to per-note themes, banknotes can also belong to a named series theme — an editorial label that ties a series together (e.g., “Heritage”, “Flora”). The series theme is shown on the banknote detail page when populated.

Filtering by Colour and Theme

On the banknote list, both colours and themes appear as multi-select filters with an Any/All toggle:

  • Any (default) — Returns notes that match at least one selected value
  • All — Returns notes that match every selected value

You can also filter for notes with no colour or no theme assigned (the “none” option), which is useful for spotting catalogue entries that still need classification.
