World Map

What It Shows

The World Map (Geography > World Map) is a single interactive map of global data coverage. Instead of browsing separate country lists for each module, it shows at a glance which countries have Banknotes, Coins, Cash in Circulation, or Counterfeit data — and lets you jump straight into that country’s data from the map itself.

Choosing a Data Type

The four buttons above the map (Banknotes, Coins, Cash (CIC), Counterfeit) act as a single-select filter that recolours the whole map. Only one data type colours the map at a time; switching data types is instant and doesn’t reload the page.

Reading the Map

• A coloured country has data for the selected data type.
• A blank/outlined country has no data for that data type.
• A dashed border means the country’s data exists but is locked on your current subscription plan — hover it to see an unlock prompt.

The panel above the map shows a running total (for example “77 countries have Cash (CIC) data”) and, if any countries are locked for your plan, a count of how many.

Eurosystem Countries

On the Cash and Banknotes data types, Eurozone countries are shown in a distinct blue rather than the data type’s usual colour, with a separate legend entry (“Eurosystem (euro area)” vs “Other countries”). This is because euro banknotes and euro cash-in-circulation figures are tracked jointly across the euro area rather than purely per country. Click either legend swatch to temporarily dim the other group and isolate the one you’re interested in.

Finding a Country

Use the Find a country… search box above the map to jump straight to any country by name. Start typing and pick a match from the dropdown — the map centres and zooms to that country automatically.

Hovering and Pinning a Country

Every country with data in any of the four data types carries a small ring marker at its centre. Hover a marker to see a panel with that country’s details. Move the mouse away and the panel closes automatically after a short delay — moving toward the panel itself (rather than away from the marker) keeps it open so you have time to click something inside it.

Click a marker to pin its panel open — useful on touch devices, or if you want to keep a panel open while you look around the rest of the map. Click the same marker again, click a different marker, or click anywhere else on the page to close it.

The Country Panel

The panel that appears on hover or click shows the country name (which links to its full Country Detail page) followed by one small card for each data type that country actually has data in — skipping any it doesn’t. Each card shows a short summary (for example “Banknotes — 142 banknotes · 1990–2024”) and is itself a link straight into that data type’s filtered view for the country. If a data type is locked for your plan, its card shows a lock icon instead of the summary and doesn’t link anywhere — hover it for an unlock prompt.

Zooming and Panning

Use the + / − buttons in the top-right corner to zoom in and out, or scroll the mouse wheel over the map to zoom centred on the cursor. Click and drag anywhere on the map to pan around. The compress-icon button resets the view back to the full world.

Copying the Map as an Image

The copy icon button at the top of the zoom controls captures the map exactly as it currently looks — current zoom level, pan position, and colouring — and copies it to your clipboard as a PNG image, ready to paste directly into an email, a chat, or a slide deck. The icon briefly turns into a checkmark to confirm the copy succeeded. If your browser doesn’t support copying images to the clipboard, the image downloads as a PNG file instead and the icon turns into a download icon. The exported image covers only the map area itself (country shapes and markers) — the filter buttons, legend, and search box are not included.

Map Views on Other Pages

The Banknotes, Coins, and Banknotes > By Suppliers list pages each have their own Table / Map toggle that plots your current filtered results the same way — see Map View in the Banknotes Module and Coins Module sections for details. Unlike this World Map overview, those list-page map views require a Premium or Enterprise plan.
